W3CP2 = The Will of God
The final piece to the W3CP2 = The Will of God puzzle is peace. Peace is the assurance that we have made the right choice in seeking God’s will. Peace that we are on the right pathway on this incredible treasure hunt for his will. It is also the confirmation that we have arrived and found the specific task he wants us to do for him and in him. Peace is the quiet rest we have in God when we are continuing in his will. It puts joy to the statement when we get up in the morning and we say I love what I do every day and at this time I wouldn’t want to do anything else with my life. This is it. It has nothing to do with how hard our job is or the challenges we can have in every job or as I prefer to say calling. It is the peace that God gives us that he has and will give strength to perform his will every day. He prepares us for the task at hand and the abilities to handle whatever that task entails.
The result of all of this is purpose, yes purpose. Something many people lack today. Purpose that the task we are doing means something and is worthwhile. Purpose that our life and existence here on earth have value and what we do is not in vain. Purpose of an eternal value as someone once said “life is just a dress rehearsal for heaven.” Meaning life on this earth is only temporal but how we live this life will be part of the reward, or lack of, that God will give us for doing his will for him while we are on this earth. The parable of the pounds and the talents show us that. The greatest purpose we can have in life is to glorify God in all we do and accomplish in this life in fulfilling Ephesians 1:12 “That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.” This will bring a human being the greatest peace.
The Greek word used in Philippians 4:7 as well as in many other passages on the peace of God is eirene – quietness, rest, set at one again. Our will and his will coming together. Psalm 37:4 “Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Psalm 84:11 “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” The heart of God and the heart of man will beat again in the same rhythm. That is peace in the soul at the sweetest level. All our selfish motives and desires will be all gone. There will be no motive for existence except to please God. We need to reach that synergy as often as we can in this life, daily if possible. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:31 “…I die daily.” That is why the confirmation of the peace of God by the Holy Spirit is so important in our lives, to assure us we are on the right path he has set for us for his glory not ours.
