The Will of God

W3CP2 = The Will of God

The second principal is choosing to view your circumstances through faith.  We begin to view the circumstances of life differently when we come to Christ in faith.  The Holy Spirit came into our heart to dwell and we are baptized into the body of Christ.  We put on the eye glasses of faith and we start the journey of life by faith.  “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (II Corinthians 5:7).  Once we become part of the family of faith we not only view life circumstances from the perspective of faith but our circumstances will become the building blocks to help us grow in faith.

Jude 20 “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.  II Peter 1:5-7 “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge:  And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.”  A vital part of this walk of faith is finding the will of God in our lives.  Growth in every one of these areas affects how we read the circumstances of life that come our way, how we choose to respond to the circumstances in life presented to us or the circumstances forced upon us, such as, what college we choose, or who we should marry, or what job we should have.

God has different circumstances for each one of us.  Even though going to the orphanage was against my will, God used it to put me in His perfect will.  For everyone that makes the right choice from the perspective of faith, the common spiritual denominator is that our faith will grow and add virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and the greatest of these is love.  We go from what we do with the circumstances of life to what we become.  Ephesians 1:12 “That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.”  So the ultimate goal of the circumstances of life comes down to one common purpose in life, to know Christ and become more like him everyday through faith.

Let me summarize circumstances.  Definition – God used the circumstances of life to reveal his will and encourage you in the process of doing his will.  Circumstances are the opportunities and difficulties of life we experience every day.

Rule #1 – Circumstances must always fall under the guidelines of the Word of God.  God confirms right response to the circumstances that come our way and our acceptance of the circumstances we have no control of by his word and his spirit.  We need God’s wisdom because Satan can present what might look very inviting and seem like God’s will, but can use it to crush or destroy our faith like Job.

Rule #2 Circumstances may be good but are they good for you?

  • All things are lawful but not all things are expedient (best). Remember the enemy of great is good.
  • All things are lawful but I will not be brought under the power of any. Circumstances are a great vehicle to serve God but they cannot have a greater control over us than the God of circumstances does.  Always check your motive.

Rule #3 God’s will may not always appear logical but it will always play out biblically.

  • Remember scripture uses unusual people, unusual things, and unusual places. When you’re trying to understand the painting of God’s will look for the unusual, for they are classic ways God reveals his will.  This ensures he receives all the glory.

Rule #4 The Law of opposites.  God’s way of thinking is opposite of man’s.  We must view circumstances from his perspective.

Rule #5 We must view all circumstances through faith.

  • This view of circumstances begins when we come to Christ in faith. We put on the eye glasses of faith.
  • When we become part of the family of faith then our circumstance of life will become the building blocks of our faith.

Every one of us will have different circumstances in life but they will lead each one of us to one common spiritual goal, to become like Christ which is the essence and true purpose in God’s will for us in this life.  Far above all the existence we experience in life.
