Loneliness

His Greatness

            Late walks at night, early in the morning, or at sunset can be a great way to find the door to his throne room. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork (Psalm 19:1).  The vastness of his creation, his attention to detail, his abundance of color and purpose and how all creation works to sustain our existence humbles me.  I guess I often start by lifting up my eyes unto the hills.  This begins to take my eyes off my troubles.  Although I am still looking through the eyes of loneliness, I begin to look at his majesty and not my sources of loneliness.

His Stillness and Silence

            Jesus never spoke to Peter in the courtyard.  There is power in his stillness and great silence.  His silence will strip me to bare bones within the joy of approval or to my knees of confession or through pouring out my heart before the God of all creation.  As I stand before his silence, I pour out the very depth of my soul. Loneliness

          Sometimes I experience loneliness in my life.  Sometimes sweet loneliness, sometimes a loneliness that is hard, deep, and persistent.  Loneliness may be caused by several different reasons.  It may be caused by the loss of a friend or loved one through death or a broken relationship.  Sometimes it is caused by the cares of the world.  Loneliness can happen when the odds seem to stack up against you or when you feel that no one seems to understand you, even the people that are closest to you.  It could be your job, family, friends or just the weight of the curse.  Personally, like Paul in Romans 7:14, 24 and 8:22 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate that I do.  Oh wretched man that I am!  Who shall deliver me from the body of death? For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together waiting for its deliverer. [Read more…]
