The Permissive Will of God
There is one thing inside of us that fights against the will of God. Our will! I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man; But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. Oh, wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ, or Lord. So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh, the law of sin. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world (I John 2:16, Romans 7:21-24). This is not his will for us. And the world passeth away, and the lust of it; but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever (I John 2:17).
Remember we can never override the sovereign will of God but if we keep pushing away his will for our lives and desire our will, he may eventually give you what you want. This is what I call “The Permissive Will of God.” I do not recommend this to anyone especially believers, the household of faith. [Read more…]
